Painting & Wall Finishes in St. Pete & Tampa Bay

Painting that starts with the prep

Ethicore paints interiors and exteriors across St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay, applies Venetian plaster and limewash, and hangs wallcovering. Every job starts with prep: patching, sanding, caulking, priming, and treating any mildew, so the finish holds up in Florida humidity instead of peeling or staining after one summer.

Our painting sequence

Good paint depends on the wall beneath it

Samples on your walls, in your light

We start by walking each room and exterior wall with you and testing colors where they will live, painting large samples on your walls so you see them in morning and evening light. We help you choose sheens by room, since flat hides wall flaws while satin and semi-gloss clean more easily in kitchens, baths, and trim. For plaster, limewash, or Venetian finishes we make sample boards first. Then we note moisture readings, stucco cracks, and any mildew or water damage that needs repair before paint.

Protect, repair, prime, then paint

Floors, cabinets, and furniture are covered and the work area is masked. We wash surfaces, treat mildew, fill and sand patches, caulk trim joints, and spot-prime repairs so the finish coat dries evenly. Outside, we pressure-wash, repair stucco cracks, and check moisture before priming, and exterior coats are scheduled around afternoon rain. Paint goes on in two coats with drying time between them, and wallcovering is hung over a smooth, primed wall. Plaster and limewash are troweled or brushed in thin layers, then burnished or sealed where the finish calls for it.

Checked in raking light before handover

When the last coat is dry we pull the masking and walk every room with a work light held low along the wall, which shows roller marks, thin spots, and missed edges that overhead light hides. Touch-ups are made from the same batch of paint, outlet covers and hardware go back on, and the floors are cleaned. You receive a record of every color, sheen, and product by room, labeled leftover paint for future touch-ups, and care instructions for any plaster or limewash finish.

Finishes at a glance

The right finish for each surface

Sheens and finishes are chosen room by room. Here is how each one is matched to the surface and to how the room gets used.

Flat
Hides wall flaws best, for walls where a smooth, even look matters more than washability.
Satin and semi-gloss
Easier to clean, which suits kitchens, bathrooms, and trim.
Venetian plaster
Troweled on in thin layers, then burnished or sealed as the finish calls for, after you approve a sample board.
Limewash
Brushed on in thin layers and sealed where the finish calls for it, starting from a sample board.
Wallcovering
Hung over a smooth, primed wall, after the same patching and sanding a painted wall gets.

Florida humidity finds every skipped step

Paint is the thinnest layer in the house and the one you see most. In Florida humidity, skipped prep shows up fast: peeling over chalky stucco, mildew bleeding through bathroom ceilings, and caulk lines that crack after one summer. Cleaning, repairing, priming, and choosing the right product for each surface is what keeps a finish from failing early. Every painting project is quoted to your rooms, surfaces, and finish choices after a walkthrough, so the price reflects the prep the job actually needs.

FAQ

Questions about painting and wall finishes

More on permits, timelines, pricing, and aftercare is on our full FAQ page.

Yes. Paint and plaster finishes are among the smaller projects we take on, and the prep standard is the same as on a full remodel: covering floors and furniture, washing and patching walls, caulking trim joints, and spot-priming repairs. Every painting project is quoted to your rooms, surfaces, and finish choices after a walkthrough, so the price reflects the prep each wall actually needs.

Usually because of what happened before the paint went on. In Florida humidity, paint over chalky stucco peels, mildew left on a bathroom ceiling bleeds back through, and caulk lines crack after a summer. That’s why we note moisture readings and any water damage at the walkthrough, then wash surfaces, treat mildew, repair cracks and patches, and prime before the finish coats.

We test them where they’ll live. Instead of choosing from a small chip, we paint large samples directly on your walls so you can see each color in morning and evening light. For plaster, limewash, and Venetian finishes, we make sample boards first, so you approve the finish before it goes on the wall.

Yes. Exterior work starts with a pressure wash, then stucco cracks are repaired and the walls are checked for moisture before priming. Paint goes on in two coats with drying time between them, and because summer afternoons here often bring rain, exterior coats are scheduled around it. We walk the finished walls with you before handover.

You’ll have what you need to match it. At handover you receive labeled leftover paint for touch-ups, along with a record of every color, sheen, and product by room, so a future repair doesn’t start with guesswork. Plaster and limewash finishes come with care instructions of their own. If something needs our attention after the project is finished, call or email us and we’ll take a look.
